Established in 2013, The Cricket Fund was inspired by Kristina "Cricket" Russell of Port St. Joe, Florida. In March 2012, Cricket, 22, was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer while attending Gulf Coast State College to become a nurse.
In the face of such critical news at such a young age, Cricket told her family, "I don’t have an expiration date." While her courageous battle with cancer ended on November 27, 2012, her memory, spirit of courage and calling to care for others will survive through The Cricket Fund.
